The 18-year-old, who has been part of the Red Devils' youth setup since 2011, has revealed his nickname at the club inspired by his elder celebrity elder brother Jordan Mainoo-Hames who featured in the reality TV show Love Island in 2019.

During , the youngster said, "My brother was on it (Love Island). I'm close to him. You know what, going back to another question – my nickname. The kit man at United always called me 'Love Island'. [He's been doing so] since I was like 16."
